If you want to pay out of pocket for your health care expenses, please plan ahead with one of our financial counselors before you receive hospital services.
Your health insurance plan may require a deductible or copayment for each hospital admission or service. We usually ask for this payment at the time of service or discharge from the hospital.

BID Plymouth is a not-for-profit acute care community hospital. We serve residents of Plymouth and Barnstable counties. We understand that not all patients are able to pay for their care. We are committed to providing medical services even if you cannot pay.
Our Financial Assistance Program offers emergency and other medically necessary services at low or no cost to qualified patients. Whether you’re uninsured or underinsured, you can apply for help paying your health care bills.

When you get emergency care or are treated by an out-of-network provider at an in-network hospital, you are protected from balance billing (also called surprise billing). In these cases, you shouldn't be charged more than your plan's copayment, coinsurance and/or deductible amounts.

In some cases, you can ask for a cost estimate of your healthcare services in advance. This gives you an idea of the cost of your bill.
