Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth is committed to achieving high quality and safe care for the patients we serve. In recognition of that aim, BID Plymouth is accredited by:

BID Plymouth received its commendation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer due to its cancer program both complying with best practices in cancer care but also for scoring higher than state and national averages in all quality measurements for medical and radiation oncology.
Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission
BID Plymouth received The Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission for maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety, effective for three years.
The Joint Commission completed a comprehensive, hospital-wide survey in March 2025 with a team of surveyors who evaluated compliance with national standards for quality of care, leadership and systems design, emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, and medication management among other areas.
BID Plymouth has earned the top safety grade from The Leapfrog Group 15 times in a row, recognizing its continued commitment to patient safety. The hospital has also received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines - Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for ensuring stroke patients receive timely, evidence-based treatment aligned with nationally recognized guidelines. This ultimately leads to more lives saved and reduced disability.
In recognition of its commitment to racial equity in hospital-based breastfeeding support, BID Plymouth was honored with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s Breastfeeding Achievement Award. It was one of only 15 birthing facilities in the state to receive this recognition.
Each year, U.S. News & World Report's hospital rankings help patients find high-quality care. In its most recent rankings, BID Plymouth was named one of the Top 15 Hospitals in Massachusetts and among the Top 10 Hospitals in the Boston Metro Area. In addition, eight specialties, procedures, and conditions were rated as High Performing.
Additional recognitions include:
- Named ‘Health System Pharmacy of the Year’ by the Massachusetts Society of Health Pharmacists.
- Earned national recognition from the American Heart Association for excellence in cardiovascular treatment.
- Received a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in its Overall Hospital Quality Star ratings.
