Kevin Coughlin, President
Kevin Coughlin joined BID Plymouth in September 2014. Previously, he was a senior vice president at Elliot Health System in Manchester, New Hampshire. During his tenure at Elliot Health System, Kevin was responsible for strategic planning and operations of the Elliot Physician Network and Ambulatory Services. From 2006-2010, Kevin was the chief operating officer for the Boston Medical Center Faculty Practice Foundation where he had oversight of all business and ambulatory operations. Kevin received his bachelor's degree in Business from Providence College and a master's degree in Administration from Boston College.
Wendy Baker, Vice President, HR Business Partner
Wendy Baker joined BID Plymouth in December 2019 as director of labor and employee relations. In August 2021 Wendy assumed the role of VP, HR business partner, a role critical to the alignment of BILH HR strategy and the move toward a shared service model. Wendy has over 20 years of experience in human resources, specializing in employee relations. She worked previously at Boston Children’s Hospital and Southcoast Health System. Wendy has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Vermont.
Mary Chapin, RN, MS, Vice President, Ambulatory Services and Process Improvement
Mary Chapin joined BID Plymouth in September 2017. Previously, she was the chief administrative officer for the Faculty Practice Foundation at Boston Medical Center (BMC). During her tenure at BMC, Mary had oversight of governance, strategic planning and organizational development for the Faculty Practice Foundation. Prior to her role at BMC, Mary held various inpatient and outpatient clinical and administrative roles over a 20-year period at Brigham & Women’s Hospital. Mary earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing and a master’s in administration from Boston College.
Donna Doherty, RN, Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer
Donna Doherty joined BID Plymouth in January 2009. Previously, she held the position of interim vice president, patient care services/CNO at Caritas Norwood Hospital. After completing her BSN at Southeastern Massachusetts University, Doherty began her nursing practice as a labor and delivery nurse. Her experience includes positions as a supplies representative, clinical software applications specialist, a nurse manager, administrative director for an emergency department and an assistant vice president for nursing.
Jim Jenkins, Chief Financial Officer
Jim Jenkins joined BID Plymouth in May 2022. Previously, he was chief financial officer at Huntsville Memorial Hospital (HMH) in Texas, a 123-bed acute care community hospital. During his tenure at HMH, he oversaw finance functions including accounting, accounts payable, payroll, business office, coding/CDI/HIM, patient access services, materials management, case management and IT/S. Prior to joining HMH, Jenkins served as interim CFO for St. Joseph Medical Center. He also held financial roles at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Mass General Brigham and HCA Healthcare. Jim earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and Management from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts, and an MBA degree in healthcare management from West Texas A&M University.
Jennifer Rice, Vice President of Philanthropy
Prior to joining BID Plymouth, Jennifer Rice served as the vice president of advancement at Simmons University where she was recruited to lead the development office in preparation for a presidential transition. Prior to Simmons, Jennifer served for five years as vice president for development and alumni affairs at Wheelock College, where she completed an $87 million campaign and was responsible for fundraising strategy and execution, alumni relations and advancement communications. For 13 years before joining Wheelock, Jennifer was a consultant with The Wayland Group, a regional consulting firm to nonprofit organizations, where she worked with a variety of clients. Early in her career, Jennifer worked at The John F. Kennedy Library Foundation for 10 years in development. Originally from New York City, Jennifer attended Bates College and has an MBA in nonprofit management from Boston University.
Ron Rutherford, RN, Vice President of Support Services
Ron Rutherford joined BID Plymouth in December 2010 as director of information services. In August 2013, Ron assumed the role of vice president & chief information officer. Previously, he was director of informatics & applications at Huntington Hospital in Southern California. Prior to his career in healthcare information technology Ron spent 15 years as a practicing registered nurse specializing in adult care, medical-surgical care and critical care at Citrus Valley Health Partners, also in Southern California.
Tenny Thomas, MD, Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Tenny Thomas comes to us from Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton where he served as the CMO. Dr. Thomas received his medical degree from the College of Medicine at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman and completed his residency at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC. He is board certified in emergency medicine. Dr. Thomas also has a master’s degree in healthcare leadership from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. In addition to his CMO role, Dr. Thomas is a member of BID Plymouth’s Emergency Department and continues to practice emergency medicine.
Michael Sperling, Executive Director, IT System Services
Mike joined the leadership team in 2022. He is responsible for managing IT operations at BID Plymouth. Mike also serves as the BILH IT liaison to facilitate BID Plymouth’s engagement in strategic enterprise IT initiatives. Prior to joining BILH, Mike was the executive director of information systems at South Shore Health in Weymouth. He also held various IT leadership roles at Mass General Brigham in Boston over the course of his 25+ years in healthcare IT.
