Vascular Care
A full range of vein care options
Advanced Treatment Options
Vascular interventional physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital–Plymouth offer you the latest in treatment options. We treat a range of vascular disorders, including endovascular and open repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms.
We perform the latest endovascular techniques in angioplasty stenting and atherectomy, as well as treatment for peripheral vascular, carotid artery stenosis, venous insufficiency and chronic wounds.
Varicose Vein Removal
Varicose (spider) veins affect half of those age 50 and older, and 15–25% of all adults. Experts estimate that 20–25% of women and 10–15% of men have or will have varicose veins in their lifetime.
The Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Vein Center at BID Plymouth provides expert care and a full range of treatment options for varicose veins. Many varicose veins can be eliminated without surgery — safely, quickly and comfortably.
Minimally Invasive Vein Treatments
Some of the innovative and effective procedures we offer include:
- Endovenous laser treatment. This safe, painless procedure uses laser energy to destroy varicose veins at the source.
- Foam sclerotherapy. Your vascular physician uses a unique foam solution to eliminate larger veins — without making any incisions.
- Microphlebectomy. This procedure removes varicose veins through incisions (cuts) as small as the size of a needle tip. After undergoing this procedure, you can return to your normal activities right away.
- Visual sclerotherapy for spider veins. In this series of treatments, your specialist uses an extremely small needle to eliminate the underlying sources of unusual venous pressure that cause spider veins.
- VNUS Closure procedure. Using local anesthesia, your specialist places a catheter (thin, flexible tube) into the diseased vein. Your specialist then uses heat to seal the vein shut.
Our spider and varicose vein treatment center is one of the few centers south of Boston offering both VNUS Closure and laser procedures, allowing us to tailor treatment to you. Learn more about our varicose vein treatment options.
